Legend of Wildcard
Wildcard began with a simple curiosity: How do I make a better version of single-use plastic ziplock bags?
In 2022, while traveling between New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, I became increasingly focused on my personal gear and the small essentials people kept close. My background in jewelry-making and my habit of collecting outdoor gear had engrained in me an obsession with minimalist craftsmanship. I noticed a lot of very fashionable people still carried small ziplock bags for watertight storage. It was so unrefined to me that it felt like a blank canvas and a business opportunity.
So I decided to create a new kind of pouch that was better engineered, better looking, and better for the environment.
The earliest versions of my pouch were experiments combining protective inner linings with leather exteriors. The goal was straightforward: create a compact and reusable bag capable of protecting everyday essentials from moisture, air, spills, and daily wear. It also had to feel elevated enough to carry stylishly.
The deeper I dug, the more I realized this wasn’t simply about improving a pouch. It was about creating an entirely new category of goods. In early 2024, I committed fully to the process of inventing a closure method never before seen in human history.
Over the course of a year, I worked extensively with specialty raw material sources across the globe, obsessively refining every component through hundreds of prototypes and more than 1,200 hours of manual work. Every element was redesigned with purpose. Custom reinforced linings with rounded corners for clean and extended utility. Precision magnets for a reliable seal that was easy enough to open and strong enough to close. Premium leathers selected for both performance and character. And reinforced kevlar thread to endure the abrasion of traveling in a pocket. I toiled until all of the components fit together like a puzzle.
The result was Wildcard, a multi-purpose pouch designed to replace disposable storage with something durable and beautiful. More than an accessory, it was a cutting-edge utility compact enough for everyday life. Everyone wanted it.
At its core, Wildcard reflects the simple principle that the things we carry demand to work seamlessly and to feel amazing in our hands. In late 2024 I filed a Utility Patent that birthed a new category of small leather goods.
For centuries, people have desired to keep perishables, medicines, and tokens protected from the elements. So I did the hard work. It’s time for you to start carrying smarter.
